After the first meeting, representatives of the communities of temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine made a decision on further cooperation and elaboration of joint development and recovery plans. Taking into account the results of previous meeting, community representatives continued to provide information on real needs of settlements and emphasized a need to establish the Association.
"The general theme is to identify common problems, challenges, threats and general issues after de-occupation of the Azov region. We need to ask ourselves what we should do and how to plan for the future in 1-2 years. Our special issue will be the return of people and businesses to the de-occupied territories. In addition, we received a request from the USAID to establish the Association for the Azov Region unification," - emphasized Mykhailo SEMIKIN, Melitopol TC.
At the second meeting, considerable attention was paid to people who have to survive in occupation and to options for solving priority public problems after de-occupation.
"Our first issue will be the problems among population. We, as representatives of the authorities, must create certain conditions for the population in order to avoid lynchings and to reduce social tension between those people who are there and those who will return," - Liudmyla SHLYAKHTINA, Nove TС.
"External assistance in the first days after de-occupation is the creation of a humanitarian hub, warehouses and food stocks in order to support our people, because personnel is the most important thing that will help us to rebuild the country," - Natalia BUKREEVA, Mariupol Regional State Administration.
As a separate issue discussed the creation of workplaces to provide population with work and income.
"The most important thing I would like to point out is that we need to attract business to the Association. Involvement of business will make it possible to create new jobs, which will create a year-round production cycle, for example, the processing industry, starting from raw materials to finished products. And we have to find an answer to the question - As the government, what can we offer to business?" - Serhiy KALIMAN, Vasylivka TC.
According to the results of a second meeting "REINTEGRATION OF THE AZOV REGION. CHALLENGES. EXPERIENCE. FUTURE", the target problems and challenges for the communities and options for legal forms of creation of the Association were identified.
"The general goal is restoration and therefore the most appropriate form for establishing the Association is the the Local Association of Local Government Organizations. In order to promote this union, we need media side and an involvement of donors to the organization," - emphasized Dmytro SHOSTAK, the lawyer.
