The Trubin Award was launched and first paid out in May. This charitable project aims to support talented athletes who find themselves in difficult conditions due to russia’s military actions and occupation.
The award is given monthly to athletes who show high results in their sports, despite all difficulties and limitations.
According to Trubin, this initiative is aimed at inspiring young athletes to continue practicing and reaching new heights.
Candidates are nominated by local self-government bodies as well as youth and sports managers.
Athletes from 3 oblasts of Ukraine have already received the award in June:
- Zaporizhzhia oblast
Babak Lyudmila Petrivna. Kayaking and canoeing. Honored Master of Sports of Ukraine. World Championship gold and silver, 2 European Championship gold medals, 2 World Cup gold medals in 2023. Eight-time World Marathon Champion.
- Kherson oblast
Yatskovsky Vladyslav Viktorovych. The struggle is free. Master of Sports of Ukraine in freestyle wrestling. Champion of Ukraine among juniors and junior girls U20, 3rd place at the Championship of Ukraine among men under 23 years of age in 2023. 8th place at the European Championship among juniors and juniors U20.
- Donetsk oblast
Bilytskyi Leon Valeriyovych. Kettlebell sport. Honored Master of Sports of Ukraine. Three-time world champion (Lithuania), champion and silver medalist of the European Championship (Greece), champion of Ukraine (Yaremche), three-time champion of the Cup of Ukraine (Kyiv) in 2023.
Such support is an important social event that will unite the Ukrainian sports community.
